I thought [Portfolio Review Night] was an amazing opportunity to put my work in front of the eyes of working professionals - especially those whose studio work I admired most. To be completely honest, I didn’t even have a full portfolio when I went! But I knew just having the judges look over my work would be incredibly beneficial.
To my surprise though, something I didn’t expect leaving with was new connections who I still talk to today. Unlike other design talks or events, PRN is for people who are in the exact same boat as you, so I didn’t find it hard to strike a conversation and make new friends.
At the end I think PRN is a great chance to hear how designers can help you improve your portfolio but also a fantastic way to embed yourself in the community (which might be just as essential as having your work reviewed).
