Do I have to buy a ticket if I'm playing in the tournament?
No, players that pass the qualifiers and make it to Round 1 don't need to purchase a ticket. If you purchase a ticket and then make it to Round 1, we'll reimburse you.
Do I have to be in Toronto to participate?
You must in Toronto or able to get yourself here for the Oct 22 tournament.
Do I have to pay to join the qualifiers?
No, entering and playing in the qualifying round online is free.
Can I just watch the game?
Of course! Come join the crowd, hang with your friends, and grab a drink from Bevy bar. We'll have some other fun activities for our audience to enjoy too.
Do I need to bring my own art supplies?
We recommend bringing the supplies you're most comfortable working with for the tournament. Some art materials will be supplied but we can't confirm what those will be before the event.
Can I draw with my tablet and/or Apple Pencil?
No. This is an analog hand-lettering competition. Players need to show their skills on paper using real-world tools and art supplies.
What art supplies should I use?
It's up to you! We recommend bringing the tools you're most comfortable using. That said, since the rounds move fast, we suggest using items that don't take a long time to dry or settle.
What kinds of lettering are you looking for?
We want to see what you do best. Expect players to be skilled at all kinds of lettering, from calligraphy, graffiti, sign painting, font design, and even illustration. Your skills determine the better letter.
